Nothing Phone 2 gets U.S. availability date, price

Carl Pei’s Nothing made good on its promise: The company’s new flagship smartphone, Nothing Phone 2, will be available in the U.S.

The company started the pre-orders for Nothing Phone 2 on Tuesday, with the phone’s general availability date being July 17.

A lot of info about the phone has already been revealed, so here’s a recap: The Nothing Phone 2 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and has 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256/512GB of storage. It has a 6.7-inch, OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1,080×2,412 pixel resolution, and a dual 50-megapixel rear camera, as well as a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Other features of note include stereo speakers, IP54 water and dust resistance, a 4,700mAh battery with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging, and an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The phone’s biggest claim to fame, of course, is its unique, semi-transparent design, a highly customized Android skin called Nothing OS, and the flashing Glyph interface on the back, which uses a couple of LED lights to add some additional functionality to the phone’s rear side, including notifications and lighting effects that accompany the phone’s ringtones.
